Thailand videos

As I cycled through Thailand on my world cycle tour I recorded videos of anything that I saw that caught my eye.  I hope that these will give you a snapshot of life within the countries that I will have been privileged enough to cycle through.

Please scroll down to watch individual videos or visit my Youtube channel where you will find all of the videos from my cycle around the world.

Dinner at the night market – Thailand (3 minutes)

It was Sunday night and everywhere was closed, no food was on offer anywhere. Every time I gestured to people that I was looking for food they all just pointed me in the same direction. After 1 kilometer or so it became obvious where everybody in town was – they were at the night market and so I joined them for food.

Camping in Chumpon National Park – Thailand (5 minutes)

This video shows you where I camped in the National Park but may be a little dark in places as it was shot at night.  The park is full of monkeys and that night I was joined by a couple of dogs who would run off into the swamp every so often if the monkeys got too close.

Lunch Time – Thailand (4 minutes)

My personal chef made me a delicious soup which I had not seen for a few hundred kilometers and made a great change from curry.

Even monkeys have to earn their crust – Thailand (8 minutes)

The tallest trees on the horizon are often the coconut trees which can grow a good 30 metres tall. There is only one efficient method of getting the coconuts off the trees, and this is where the monkey comes into it’s own.
Some people may think it is cruel, but this is reality folks and often for the wildlife of Asia it really is a choice of being useful or being eaten….

Just Sand and Tea – Thailand (11 minutes)

The last few days have been a very relaxing jaunt down the coast stopping off now and again for a swim and a cuppa. Here are a few of the beaches that I visited along the way.

Heading Down The Coast – Thailand (12 minutes)

After a few days of camping in the National Park it was time to get back on the bike and continue my journey south towards Malaysia.

The Snake – Thailand (5 minutes)

A few days ago I was cycling through a National Park and was typing away on my laptop having stopped by the beach when a snake crawled on to the table that I was sat at.

A Salty Affair – Thailand (9 minutes)

The landscape that I was now cycling through had once again completely changed; the padi fields of Vietnam and Cambodia were replaced by the salt fields that I was now cycling past.  I just had to stop and investigate.

Monkey Business – Thailand (3 minutes)

It was here that I encountered my first wildlife of the day – Wat monkeys who seemed to be having a territorial spat with their neighbours.  I think that the locals are used to it as they didn’t seem to bat an eyelid – it was just the farang cyclist who thought it was a great spectacle.

The Helpful Monk – Thailand (12 minutes)

I had cycled down the highway to the coast for a couple of hours when I was getting a bit bored and fancied a distraction.  Like a magpie something shiny caught my eye as I was crossing a railway bridge and so off I went to have a look at the beautiful Wat that I had seen from the bridge.

My Motorbike Outrider Leaving Bangkok – Thailand (5 minutes)

I was not looking forward to leaving Bangkok but my motorcycle outrider showed me a fantastic route out of the city – quiet roads and canals

The Road to Bangkok – Thailand (12 minutes)

Fast busy roads, bouncing bridges, dancing dragon’s and a spot of Adele – all in a day’s riding.

Phliu National Park- Thailand (12 minutes)

The road out of Trat took me past Phliu National Park, and as I had been on the bike for a couple of weeks it was time to go and give my feet a bit of spring cleaning.

Goodbye Fraser and Trinh (AKA the Pocket Rocket) – Thailand (3 minutes)

This would probably be the last time that I would see the pair of them for at least a few years, unless I spend too much time in the National Parks, so I recorded a little message to them saying goodbye and good luck.

A Foodies Dream – Thailand (5 minutes)

After a few days in the mountains it really was a ‘luxury’ to cross into Thailand and find more food than you could shake a stick at. The hardest choice was where to start.weeks cycling all that stood between myself and the Thai border were the Cardamom mountains.
