Ecuador (Galapagos Islands) video

In July 2017 after I finished my world cycle ride I moved to Bogota, Colombia to live and work and in January 2018 I visited the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. (couldn’t afford to do it while cycling!!!)

Please scroll down to watch the videos from the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador or visit my Youtube channel where you will find all of the videos from my cycle around the world.

Galapagos Islands Day 5 – Los Tunales, Isla Isabela

This would be our last boat trip in the Galapagos Islands and today we went to Los Tunales on the coast of Isla Isabela about an hour or so to the southwest of Puerto Villamil.

Los Tuneles are geological formations that were created during the last major lava eruption which created this section of the island. After visiting the tunnels, and seeing the Blue Boobies and their chicks, it was time to head into the ocean for a spot of snorkeling. The surrounding ocean provided an outstanding opportunity for us to snorkel among the dark black lava formations that come in the shape of all kinds of arches and tunnels.

Highlights of the show were penguins, white-tipped sharks, eagle rays, sea lions, turtles and even sea horses in the shallows.

Galapagos Islands Day 4 – Giant Tortoises, Isla Isabela

I couldn’t manage a whole holiday without getting on a bicycle and as no cars were allowed on Isla Isabela then there was only one option – rent a bike for the day and go in search of the one animal that is synonymous with the Galapagos Islands – Giant Tortoises.

Galapagos Islands Day 3 – Snorkeling and beaches, Isla Santa Fe

Isla Santa Fe is an uninhabited island to the south east of the volcanic Galapagos archipelago. To get here we took a 40 minute boat ride from Isla Santa Cruz and first up was a spot of snorkeling where the stars of the show were sealions, sharks, turtles, rays and thousands of fish. It was then time to hit the beautiful white sand beach of Hidden Bay which we shared with the local fauna – Ballet/Sally Crabs, Yellow Finches and Marine Iguanas. An amazing day in the Galapagos Islands.
